Activities, games, videos, virtual tours, webcams, art projects — there are countless ways to enjoy our National Parks from home. Most of them offer Junior Ranger Programs to help young people appreciate and learn about our parks. There are lots of activities that can be done from home before a trip to enhance understanding of the parks. Many of these activities are in the Junior Ranger Activity Books that kids and teens can complete to earn badges. During Covid, these books can still be completed at home for badges.
- Junior Rangers! Our family loved Junior Ranger activity books! We'd start every National Park trip with a visit to the rangers to pick up these park-specific books. There are activities and content for many different ages and abilities. After completing a certain number, your child can earn a park-specific badge and be "sworn in" as a Junior Ranger... a video worthy moment!00
- We love the Junior Ranger Progams! Our family has also used Junior Ranger programs in many National Parks and state parks for a richer understanding of them. Many of the online activities are also excellent and can give a head start on generating interest and knowledge before (or instead) of travel.00
