The House of Medici: Its Rise and Fall

If you are planning a trip to Florence, this would be a wonderful addition. You will be looking up locations, images of the art pieces referenced, and historical figures often and it will flesh out the geography of the city and the long history of Medici influence on Florence, Tuscany, and all of Europe. It will likely spark interest in different locations you will want to add to your trip. There are some major gaps, like the lack of exploration into their actual banking techniques and perhaps the unnecessary listing of minor characters and distant relatives that tend to bog down the story. Overall, an engaging read that is very well researched.
